Our latest research, published under the title “The non-native Quercus rubra does not substitute the native Quercus robur and Q. petraea as a substrate for epiphytic lichens and bryophytes” delves deep into the ecological impacts of introducing non-native oak species to Sweden’s forest landscapes.
This study compares the biodiversity of epiphytic lichens and bryophytes on native and non-native oak species, revealing significant differences in species richness and composition. Our findings highlight the complexity of substituting native tree species with non-native counterparts and underscore the importance of thorough biodiversity assessments when considering such changes.
