Conservation genetics

Conservation genetics is an interdisciplinary subfield of population genetics that studies the dynamics of genes in populations to support natural-resource management, conserve genetic diversity and prevent species extinction. Genetic diversity within species is one of the three fundamental components of biodiversity.
